APPOINTMENT AS ELDER

Why was he appointed: Detailed Administration

When was he appointed: Following severe drought that led to famine.  Aminion uses his detailed records to show that rainfall had been noticeably declining and that his predecessor should have had time to respond to the lack of rainfall before the situation became too severe to counteract. The fact that Aminion had hidden this information from his predecessor was never presented to the clan. Aminion bribed and threatened individuals who were aware of his deceit until he could arrange more permanent ways of silencing them.  Because of this perceived oversight and the suffering that occurred following the drought, Aminion's predecessor retired himself and Aminion became clan elder.

How does he stay in power:  Aminion acts as a "yes man" to the other elders which he believes makes him easy to work with and therefore guarantees his position of power.  However, he also likes to leverage others with the threat of food loss if they don't agree with him or refuse to obey.

Craving the respect not recieved in his early years, Aminion learned to settle for fear. He positioned himself in such a way as to take advantage of those who weaker in order to make himself valuable to those who were stronger. Fearing that his submissiveness and constant attempts to please his superiors diminished his stature as a man, he became aggressively hostile to those at his mercy. Mercy itself was never something he cultivated. He would only utilize such measures if he were in the public eye and in need of making a good showing of himself.

Aminion would most easily be described as visually frail. Were the man not looking at you there was nothing remarkable about him.  It was when he turned his attention to you that you knew the power of his eyes. Fierce eyes that easily made people feel uncomfortable.  The kind of eyes that pierced and made their target knowingly 'visible' and 'vulnerable'.

Intelligent enough to understand his own lack of physical presence, Aminion developed a quick mind and keen observation skills that allowed him to capitalize on opportunities few others noticed.  These skills granted him the ability to carefully craft a publically adored persona allowing him to capitalize on even the most malicious of opportunity without the suspicion of his superiors. Only those who lacked influence were allowed to see the true nature of Aminion as he delighted in displaying his capabilities to the defenseless but never dared to challenge a worthy opponent.
