Capital: Corliss [ KOR-les]

PERSPECTIVE
"They look at us with the scorn and contempt that we recognize as envy. Envy born of their weakness, their complacency. They want us to believe we need them because they are stagnant without us! Even as they condescend they want to reap the benefits of our discoveries. The patronize yet expect us to freely share our innovations-the very innovations they wanted to stop us from discovering! They push against our progress with their debating, their protesting. They push because they want to stop us from learning. The “little ones” assume us to be fools for believing in our visions. But we know the truth of what we have seen. Our visions are our personal glimpses behind the vail. Glimpses awarded to those minds who are brave enough to look, brave enough to see. You and I know that life offers more than what was handed to us at our birth. You and I know that the world is full of chances to create something better for ourselves. We are all here together because we have made the choice to be here together. We are here because we have decided to take control of our own futures. Our lives will not be dictated by the shackles of tradition! We are here because we see the opportunity in the world around us. We will grasp that opportunity and we will realize our visions. We will let each man and each woman be as good as what they can make for themselves! We will not be stopped short of realizing our dreams by the blindness in eyes that refuse to open! I stand here before you today because I am not shortsighted! No partisans, my vision is not weak. My vision doesn’t shake...neither do my nerves shake when I face the truth of what we must do. We must ensure out ability to move freely about the world without worry of their warships, their military, posing a threat..that we may create an extraordinary civilization built by extraordinary people who toiled-not because tradition dictated it--but because they could see the vision of what they were creating. And I tell you today, that vision is worth defending! So defend it WE WILL!"
-As spoken by Amadi to his people on the founding day of Corliss
HISTORY
Led by Amadi [a-MA-di], members of this faction separated from the Garbonians and founded the city of Corliss. As progress was made toward the completion of the city, Garbonian elders became desperate to return the Amadios back to the banners they had abandoned. Fearing a further weakening of their positions as their people saw the success of defiance, the elders steped away from their traditions of peaceful and harmonious existence. Ordering the assassination of Amadi returned disparate results. The Amadios held even more fiercely to their visions of the future they were building and pushed further away from the Garbonian traditions. This caused further splitting among the clans as ties were severed and friends and family forced to choose a side.
The Amadios pride themselves on personal achievement. The everyday necessity of a project is not the only factor in its value. Value is placed on going further in any given field than anyone else has gone. The Amadios believe in pushing boundaries--all boundaries. The only acceptable finishing position is first.
